高校私費留学を半額で行う方法

管理人は、高校一年生のゴールデンウィーク後に留学を決めました。

留学に「NSISP」を決めてから実際にカナダに降り立つまでの行程を、今回は書いてみたいと思います。反面教師にするなり何なりと、少しでも参考になれば幸いです。

まず自分が最初にしたのは、NSISPの公式ホームページと思わしき所から、それらしきメールアドレスにメールを送る事でした。当時は英語力など全く持ち合わせていませんでしたので、電子辞書を片手に何とかアルファベットに置き換えた。そんな感じでした（汗）。

最初のメールの内容は、こんな感じです↓

もう、無茶苦茶です。今見返すと良く解読してくれたと思います（汗）。

５月24日に送ったこのメールに、返信が来たのは翌日でした。

Dear XXXX, Thank you for your interest in the Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP). It is possible that you can be accepted into the NSISP without the help of an agency, however, we do encourage that students use agencies as they can be very helpful to the students - but it is your choice not to use one. The first step for coming to NSISP is to fill out an application form (which I have attached) and send as soon as possible to XXX XXXXX, Program Administrator. Your application is then processed and you are either accepted or refused entry into our program. You can still possibly join the NSISP without being able to speak English. If you are accepted to NSISP, I would strongly encourage you to apply for the ESL summer camp for the last two weeks of August as this will help you adjust to your new surroundings and will help to make the transition to school easier. 回答頂きありがとうございます。 今から申請書を書き出来るだけ早く送りたいと思います。 すみません、質問があります。 ファックスで送るつもりです。（X-XXX-XXX-XXXXで大丈夫？） 送るのは全部で４枚で良いんですよね?

Hi, Yes, you have the correct fax number. We can begin the process of your application with the four page application - but you will also need to send a copy of your transcripts, a letter to your host family and the non-refundable $250 application fee before the application process is complete. 親切な回答有難う御座います。 最初にアプリケーションをファックスし、成績表のコピーとホストファミリーへの手紙、＄250を郵送する。出来るだけ早く。これで大丈夫ですか？ 聴いても良いですか？どうやって＄２５０払えば良いんですか？

Hi, Yes, that sounds fine that you mail the transcripts, letter to host family and the $250. The easiest way to pay the $250 is by cheque or money order made payable to the Nova Scotia International Student Program. Please indicate on your fax that the other documents are being sent by mail. 今ファックスします。確認してください。 他の書類も今日送ります。 英語と、他の多くを学べる事を祈っています。

↑ココまでが5月25日分のやり取りです。…今読み返すとホント、こんな英語力で留学するなんて無茶しましたねぇ。。。恥ずかし過ぎて死ねるので、自分の分は日本語にしています（それでも変だけど）。
でもこのやり取りでNSISPへの信頼も増しましたし、何とかなるかもと思えました。（死ぬほど忙しかったですが…苦笑）

やり取りは翌日も続き…

↑が5月26日分のやりとり。
遣り取りの中で必要に迫られて、数をこなした所為かこの次ぐらいから少しマシになって来ています。（でも未だそのまま見せれる程では在りません...orz）

おはようございます。 送金したのは２～３日後にNSISPに届く予定です。 他の書類は今日から一週間後ぐらいにプログラム長官のXXXXに届く予定です。これで大丈夫ですか？ 他の書類の確認が取れたらメールで知らせてください。

この27日のやりとりから暫くたって、6月10日に連絡を受けました。

Dear XXXXX, I have received all of your documents now. I am processing your application today. You will be living and going to school in Halifax. Halifax is the capital of Nova Scotia. I am sure you will be very happy there. I have attached your acceptance letter and invoice. I will send the originals of these letters along with your custodianship soon. You will need these letters to apply for your student visa. If you have any further questions, please contact me. Best regards, XXXXX XXXX XXXXXXX Program Administrator

ありがとう！ 受け入れ書を受け取ったら直ぐに学生ビザの申請します。 他にしなければならないことはありますか？ ノバスコシアで勉強できる事を嬉しく思います。

Dear XXXX,

No, the only thing you need to do is apply for your student visa - you may need the custodianship letter that I will be sending to you soon first though.

As well, the invoice that was attached to the acceptance letter is due by July 1st. Please ask your father to wire the amount of $13,900 to our account.

When you have your arrival flight information, please send this to me. The first day of school is September 2nd and you can arrive anytime after August 28th.

で、受け入れを容認するという手紙（Acceptance letter)を貰ったのですが、これが半期分のモノになっていたんですね。コレは良く起こるミスみたいで、半期分を頼んだのに１年分がきたり、この時みたいに一年間の予定だと言ったのに５か月分のが来たり、良くあるみたいです..でも自分が気づく前に、直ぐに訂正とお詫びのメールが来たので大きな問題にはなりませんでした。

というメールが６月１０日の当日中に届きましたしね。
